The 42nd CCP Summer Dance Workshop starts on April 4

The country’s longest-running and most comprehensive dance workshop will begin on April 4, 2011. The 42nd CCP Summer Dance Workshop will now be held in two (2) locations: at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Building along Roxas Blvd., Pasay City (starts on April 5, Tuesday) and at Arts in the City, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig (starts on April 4, Monday).

Classes include Baby Ballet, Pre-Beginners, Children’s Ballet, Intermediate and Advanced Ballet, Hip Hop for Kids and Teens, Contemporary for Children, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels, Improvisation and Lectures on Topics in related fields.

The Summer Dance Workshop is administered by Ballet Philippines’ educational arm, the CCP Dance School. It has been a tradition among dance students for over 40 years, and has been a haven for beginners as well as serious ballet students who want to take their dancing to the next level. Many have gone on to become professional ballet and contemporary dancers with Ballet Philippines and other companies abroad.

The Workshop also welcomes young choreographers seeking to enrich their dance experience through Improvisation and the Dance Composition Lectures. Teachers from Metro Manila and the provinces who wish to interact with other teachers and students are also encouraged to come.

Scholarships are available for Metro Manila and Provincial students. Audtions are on March 12 at 1 pm to 3 pm for Metro Manila applicants, and April 6 at 3 pm for Provincial applicants. All auditions and classes for scholars will be held at the CCP.

The Workshop culminates in a recital at the CCP Main Theater on May 21 and 22.
